Salicylaldoxime (Salicylaldehyde oxime, CAS# 94-67-7, MPt 59-61C). Salicylaldoxime is a chelating agent that 'locks up' metal ions, sometimes as an insoluble precipitate. They are important in textile dyeing, water softening, and enzyme deactivation and as bacteriocides. It forms strongly coloured metal complexes, useful for measuring small amounts of certain metals.
