Benzophenone (Diphenyl ketone, CAS# 119-61-9) is in the form of white, flaky crystals melting at 49C. Used as a fixative for perfumery, ultraviolet absorber for polymers, adhesive, coating and ink. It is used as a chemical intermediate for pharmaceuticals and insecticides.

Crystals grown from uncovered melt, oblique illumination, crossed polars.
