Urea crystals grown from solvent film. Urea (carbamide, CAS# 57-13-6) is a metabolic byproduct of the digestion of nitrogen-containing compounds (e.g. protein, meat). It is readily synthesised and it is used in the manufacture of plastics such as urea-formaldehyde resin. Its nitrogen content makes it useful as a fertilizer.

Crossed polars.
